CAAP issues lightning alert, as some flights diverted to Clark

MANILA—Some Manila-bound flights were diverted to Clark International Airport after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued a lightning alert in Metro Manila Wednesday.

The warning was issued to all aircrafts using runways 13-31 and 06-24 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said several flights were forced to land in Clark as precautionary measure.

Aircrafts and the airport are equipped with anti-lightning devices, but ground or ramp personnel may be affected by lightning strike.

The following flights are diverted to Clark:

  • APG353 RPSP-RPLL landed RPLC 1025z
  • PAL721 EGLL-RPLL landed RPLC 1052Z 
  • PAL113 KLAX-RPLL landed RPLC 1100z
  • CEN954 RPMD-RPLL landed RPLC 1106z
