CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Police and representatives of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) rescued 60 street children Friday night.
The authorities searched for the homeless children in parks and other areas around the city.
They also found a few families sleeping in the streets.
The rescue was in line with the implementation of curfew hours for minors. According to police, despite the curfew, they see a rise in the number of children involved in petty crimes.
The rescued children were brought to the Cagayan de Oro Police Headquarters, and will be transferred to the Mother Theresa Home for Children in Upper Puerto.
The families were allowed to go their own way, and were not brought to any facility.
