MANILA — Globe Telecom issued an advisory Saturday to warn of a possible service interruption for users in Visayas and Mindanao after two of the company's fiber optic cables were cut.
One of the cables was cut by an unknown vehicle that dragged it at a road crossing while the other, a submarine cable, was cut when a magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro earlier Saturday.
Due to this, the telco provider said customers in some areas in Visayas and Mindanao may temporarily be unable to use mobile data and broadband internet.
The company said it is speeding up efforts to restore services "as soon as possible."
Globe said it would release updates through its social media pages as soon as services return to normal.
