MANILA – Detained Sen. Leila de Lima is brimming with joy after her son, Vincent Joshua Bohol, passed the 2018 Bar examinations.

In a dispatch from her detention cell, De Lima said learning that her son passed the Bar was “a most glorious day for me and my family.”

“My son, Vincent Joshua, made it in the Bar Exams. Glory to you, o Lord! Thank you… thank you… thank you,” she added.

De Lima also wrote a separate letter to her son, in which she wrote: “Sweetest congratulations, dear Vincent! So very happy! My happiest day in more than two years. Praise God.”

Bohol is De Lima’s son with her former husband, Plaridel Bohol.
He graduated from the law school of San Beda College Alabang in June last year.

De Lima had asked the court to allow her to attend the graduation rites of her son, but the court rejected this.

De Lima has been detained at the police Custodial Center since February 2017 over allegations that she accepted drug money from detained crime lords when she was still justice secretary.

De Lima, a fierce critic of the administration's anti-narcotics drive, has rejected the drug allegations against her, saying these were politically-motivated.

She is not entitled to bail and, if found guilty, faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
