Drugs seized from aide's farm
MANILA - Authorities confiscated a cache of high-powered firearms and bombs from 2 properties of fugitive Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo "Ardot" Parojinog, the brother of slain mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., police said Tuesday.
The councilor has been on the run since his brother and 15 others were killed when they allegedly fought policemen who raided their properties in July 2017.
Operatives on Sunday raided Parojinog's pension house and the office of his MROP Security Agency following a tip from an underling that was arrested late last month, said Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, Ozamiz police chief.
Seized from the properties, he said, were 2 antitank rockets, 2 rocket-propelled grenades, several rifle grenades and various firearms.
"Walang mga serial number. Paano ma-register iyan?" Espenido said of the firearms.
(These had no serial numbers. How can these be registered.)
Another raid at the farm of a known associate of Parojinog, he said, yielded 2 packs of suspected illegal drugs and several grenades.
Parojinog and his aide were not around during the raid. Caretakers of their properties were taken instead for questioning, said Espenido.
President Rodrigo Duterte had offered a P5 million bounty for Parojinog's capture.
