MANILA – As a reward for her hard work, Silliman University will refund four years’ worth of school expenses of 2016 Bar exam 2nd placer Alanna Gayle Khio.

Khio, who garnered 88.95 percent in the Bar exams, will also receive a brand new car and P200,000 from school alumni, said the dean of Silliman University’s College of Law, lawyer Shiela Lynn Besario.

Bar exam 10th placer Andrew Liu.

Her schoolmates Marie Chielo Ybio and Andrew Liu, who placed 9th and 10th, respectively, will get P100,000 each.

This is the first time for alumni to contribute funds for the benefit of Bar passers, said Besario.

“The lawyers came to this office months ago, and they thought they could very well encourage the students to take law. I will be very happy to tell them that we have topnotchers this year,” she said.

Fourteen out of 16 first-takers passed this year, with five passers from previous batches, for a total of 19 new lawyers from Silliman University this year, the dean said. —with reports from Jude Torres, ABS-CBN News
