MANILA - An American resort owner has been arrested in Boracay for working without a permit, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Monday.
Randall Lee Parker, 52, was nabbed on April 25, a day before the tourist island's closure.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said Parker has been residing in the country as a tourist for almost two years.
Parker arrived in the country on April 16, 2016 and has not departed since, according to BI spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang.
Mangrobang added that Parker, whose stay as a tourist was extended to June 14 this year, has been visiting the country since 2005.
“The rule is that aliens holding tourist visas are not allowed to engage in any form of gainful employment or business activity,” she said.
Morente said Parker will "undergo deportation proceedings for illegally working in the country."
