DFA: 40 more overseas Filipinos test positive for COVID-19; total now at 1,644

MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad infected with the novel coronavirus disease is now at 1,644 with 40 new cases, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.

The disease has also killed 199 Filipinos abroad. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries is now at 434.

As of Wednesday, 1,011 of the identified cases are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down regionally as follows: 159 in the Asia-Pacific, 290 in Europe, 319 in the Middle East and Africa, and 243 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the coronavirus disease has so far infected 8,212 people, with 558 deaths and 1,023 recoveries.
