Cebu City logs 73 new COVID-19 cases

CEBU CITY - Cebu City recorded 73 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Monday.

According to Mayor Edgardo Labella, 72 cases are from Sitio Callejon in Barangay Labangon. The whole barangay has been placed on lockdown as authorities trace the source of the infection.

The other new case is from Barangay Kalunasan.

Labella said the COVID-positive patients will be transferred to the barangay isolation facility at the elementary school of Labangon as they are all asymptomatic.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Cebu City is now at 548.

Meanwhile, Barangay Suba in Cebu City is having a hard time with their operations as most of their workers are on quarantine.

Nine barangay workers and one barangay councilor has tested positive for the virus. Like the other cases in Cebu City, they are asymptomatic.

The city reminded residents anew to follow all the policies of the enhanced community quarantine so as not to lose more frontliners.

As of Tuesday, the Philippines has recorded a total of 7,958 COVID-19 cases, with 975 total recoveries and 530 deaths.
