MAYNILA — Handa umano ang Department of Justice (DOJ) na irekomenda ang Camp Crame bilang kulungan ni dating Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag sakaling tuluyan na itong sumuko.
Sabi ni DOJ Sec. Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla, gagawin nila ang lahat ng kinakailangan para sa kaligtasan ni Bantag kung tototohanin nito ang kanyang naunang pahayag na intensyong sumuko.
“We are still willing to recommend his detention at the Camp Crame Custodial Center because his life will be under threat if he goes to a BJMP or BuCor facility so we will give him of what is needed for his safety,” sabi ni Remulla.
Una nang sinabi ng kalihim na nagpahayag na si Bantag ng kahandaang sumuko, na ipinarating nito sa pamamagitan ng pagtawag sa isang hindi naman nito pinangalanang kasamahan niya sa gabinete.
Ayon kay Remulla, tinanong ni Bantag sa kasamahan niya sa gabinete kung ano ang mga posibleng isasampang kaso laban sa kanya.
“He was asking about the cases to be filed against him so I just gave them a rundown of at least three cases but, of course, I cannot guarantee that there will be no others if the facts will substantiate the filing for other criminal case,” sabi ni Remulla.
Sa ngayon, binibigyan pa aniya nila ng panahon si Bantag para sumuko.
“We are giving him a few more days to show up if he wants to surrender because otherwise we will start the effort to arrest him,” sabi ni Remulla.
