BALINDONG, Lanao del Sur - Authorities raided the house of a resident of Barangay Cadayonan here Wednesday after receiving information about a rooftop marijuana "farm" in the area.
Police raided the house of Moner Sangcopan after receiving a tip that the suspect allegedly grows marijuana plant on his rooftop.
Authorities seized 180 pieces of potted young marijuana plants during the operation, but the suspect was not present at the time of the raid.
Senior Insp. Jemar Delos Santos, information officer at the Philippine National Police office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said police are also investigating how long Sangcopan has been cultivating marijuana and how he has been able to do business despite stringent security measures implemented in the province after the Marawi siege.
Barangay officials are trying to negotiate for Sangcopan’s surrender. He was charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
