MANILA - The Makabayan bloc on Wednesday filed a resolution seeking an investigation into the killing of Escalante City councilor Bernardino 'Toto' Patigas.
Patigas, 72, was waylaid by two assailants while driving his motorcycle on his way home from a campaign sortie on Monday afternoon.
He was first shot on his leg and the killers finished him off with a shot to the forehead.
Tatay Toto, as he was fondly called, had been the Escalante City coordinator of Bayan Muna Partylist since 2010.
He was a human rights defender having once served as secretary general of the North Negros Alliance of Human Rights Advocates, a member organization of Karapatan-Negros Chapter.
