MANILA- House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit quake-hit Pampanga on Monday night.
The Pampanga lawmaker said she was saddened by the damage left by the tremor and will check on the province’s situation following reports of fatalities.
“I’m going there tonight... I have to go and check,” she told reporters on the sidelines of the Boao Economic Forum in Taguig City.
Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda earlier said at least 2 people were reported killed in the province following the magnitude 6.1 quake which hit Luzon island.
According to Pineda, a woman and her grandchild in Lubao town died after a wall collapsed on them.
A four-storey building in Porac town also collapsed, with some people trapped inside.
The Clark International Airport meanwhile will be closed for 24 hours after it incurred damage in its terminal.
