MANILA - Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is looking at possible revisions on how the Department of Education will implement its school activities for school year 2020-2021.

Gatchalian, chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, said school officials must come up with proper measures in ensuring that students have proper distances when inside their classroom.

“Ang klase natin ngayon ay 40 students in one classroom, gagawin mong 20. Baka lang para ma-achieve natin ang 20 per classroom baka maging three times ang pasok then 'yung hindi papasok, sa bahay na lang mag-aaral using textbooks at workbooks,” he said.

He also said he will be talking with school officials this week about the idea of resuming classes in June.

“Titingnan din natin kung ano ang magiging desisyon by end of the month pero kung medyo unstable pa ang sitwasyon, I would recommend to delay the school opening up to July,” Gatchalian said.

“We are waiting for the final data and the final briefing ng DOH pagdating dito sa schools. Alam natin na ang mga magulang kung ihahatid ang mga bata sa eskuwelahan ay nagkukumpol-kumpol din. Di natin maiiwasan yan. We don’t want that situation. We don’t want na situation na nagkukumpol-kumpol ang mga parents sa isang delikado na scenario. We might push it a bit backward pa,” he added.
