MANILA - The Sandiganbayan 6th division junked the motion of former police officer Wally Sombero to be transferred to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center.

The anti-graft court said it made the decision after the PNP Custodial Center said it does not want custody of Sombero and former Immigration officials Al Argosino and Michael Robles.

The three are facing plunder charges for their alleged involvement in a P50-million bribery case. They are detained at a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Camp Bagong Diwa.

Chief Insp. Romulo Flores II, head of the PNP Custodial Service Unit, earlier submitted their comment to the Sandiganbayan, saying no proof was submitted by the accused to justify their request to be detained in Camp Crame.

The PNP also reiterated that the BJMP is mandated by law to detain individuals awaiting trial, and not the police camp.

Meanwhile, Argosino and Robles have already withdrawn their motion to be transferred.--report from Joyce Balancio, ABS-CBN News
