MANILA--The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said 67 of its personnel serving as frontliners have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Gen. Bernard Banac.

In the Laging Handa press briefing, Banac said authorities are also monitoring 74 probable and 596 suspected patients who are showing symptoms of the highly contagious disease.

Banac said the PNP continues to implement its preventive measures to prevent other police frontliners from becoming infected.

The Department of Health has recorded 5,878 confirmed COVID-19 infection in the Philippines as of Friday. Of the total, 487 recovered and 887 have died.
