MANILA (UPDATE) - Fire broke out at a residential area in Tondo, Manila on Saturday morning, displacing families at a time when residents are encouraged to stay home amid the spread of the coronavirus.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the second alarm at Happyland on Road 10 was reported at 7:32 a.m. and quickly escalated, prompting them to raise it to Task Force Alpha, and later to Task Force Bravo, to signal for more fire trucks to respond.
The BFP said the fire spread to other houses mostly made of light materials.
Residents were seen rushing out of their homes with their belongings, while others were crowded together as they stood watch of their houses ablaze.
Before 10 a.m., authorities declared that the fire had been put out.
As of this posting, there has been no report of injuries.
