MANILA - A tarpaulin bearing the words "Mag-ingat sa MAGNANAKAW!" (Beware of thieves) greeted motorists plying the stretch of Quezon Avenue on Thursday.
The tarpaulin was placed on the same footbridge where a tarp that bore the message "Welcome to the Philippines Province of China" was hoisted on April 9, the Day of Valor.
Tarps with the same message were seen at several points in the metro last year, a dig at closer ties between the Philippines and China despite unresolved disputes in the South China Sea. This has seen an influx of Chinese workers and businesses in the country.
Authorities could not say yet who were behind the posters. The latest tarp was hung less than a month before the midterm elections, where opposition groups have been campaigning against corruption-linked candidates.
