Pregnant woman abandoned by NPA rebels in Bukidnon: military

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - A pregnant woman was wounded in an encounter between members of the communist New People's Army (NPA) and the military in Barangay Kalabugao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon last Saturday.

1st Lt. Tere Ingente, chief of the 4th Infantry Division Public Affairs, said Susan Guaynon was abandoned by members of the communist group during the 20-minute firefight. 

Guaynon has been transferred to the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital here on Wednesday evening.

Lt. Colonel Jonna Dalaguit, commanding officer of the hospital, said Guaynon is 3 months pregnant and needs immediate medical treatment after she incurred an injury in her forehead.

Ingente said no government troops were killed during the encounter.

Ingente added that authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, an AR-18 rifle, a caliber 30 M1 carbine rifle, an M4 rifle, airgun, and 30 backpacks filled with subversive documents and personal belongings of the rebels.
