MANILA--Parañaque City on Thursday said it has included middle-income families in the social amelioration program by distributing free rice and protective masks at private subdivisions.
According to Mayor Edwin Olivarez, the city has one of the largest concentrations of private subdivisions and villages in the country.
"Our middle class is the backbone of the City of Parañaque," Olivarez said.
"They are the reason why we have become one of the most progressive local government units in the country, and it is our responsibility to help them cope during these difficult times.”
The distribution of face masks and rice was launched in Barangay Marcelo Green on Thursday morning.
Olivarez said the city's 16 barangays will be covered by the distribution of rice and masks to homeowners.
