MANILA - The province of Ilocos Sur is now free of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after its lone positive case tested negative for the disease.
In a statement released Thursday, Governor Ryan Luis Singson said all 17 swab test results from the province were found negative of COVID-19.
Of this number, 11 suspected cases are currently receiving medical care in different facilities in the province.
The six others who have died are also cleared from COVID-19.
Singson likewise ordered the reopening of Barangay Magsaysay in Tagudin town after one of its residents who was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 now tested negative.
As of Thursday, the Philippines has a total of 5,660 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 362 have died, while 435 have recovered.
