MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday warned beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program that he would not hesitate to withdraw support should they be found to have misused the financial aid given to them by the government.
Duterte made the statement following reports that a number of beneficiaries were found to have wasted the emergency subsidy of the government through gambling or drinking activities.
In his speech, the Chief Executive ordered the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to look at these incidents.
“I’d like the DILG to investigate sinong pasabong pati yung nag-iinuman. Alam mo sa totoo lang, yung kayong nagsasabong pati nag-iinuman, ibig sabihin may pera kayo. Do not expect any help from me. Sabihin ko talaga. Sorry nalang,” Duterte said.
The President said that he would rather give the money instead to those who are truly in need, noting the limited funds of the government.
Now for those people who are identified by the barangay captains and the mayors, who are violating the quarantine, pasensya ho kayo. Help would not… ay kung ganon may pera pala.
Ganun talaga,” he warned.
