MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday that people caught gambling and drinking liquor amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon shouldn't expect help from government.

"Yung kayo nagsasabong at nag-iinuman, ibig sabihin may pera kayo. Do not expect any help from me. Sabihin ko talaga, sorry na lang," Duterte said in a public address.

"May pera pala kayong pangsabong, may pera pala kayong pang-inom, di ibigay ko na lang [sa iba]. There's not enough (aid) to go around. Di talaga magkasya. We're getting low sa supply ng pagkain. Ilang araw na 'yung buong Pilipinas pinapakain mo," he added.

Duterte said he will order the Department of Interior and Local Government to investigate such incidents.

"The thing is, you must not reduce the population by something like that," he said.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier ordered the total shutdown of Barangay 20 in the capital city after learning its residents have been conducting leisure activities such as boxing and bingo while under community quarantine.

Some barangay officials also surrendered after holding cockfights in the Manila North Cemetery, despite the Luzon lockdown.

Since March 17, Luzon has been placed under lockdown, which strictly enforces home quarantine and prohibits mass gatherings, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
