MANILA- Different families living under the same roof can be eligible for the government's emergency cash aid program meant to help poor families cope with the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Thursday.
Such cases, however, are still subject to the assessment of local government units, DSWD Undersecretary Camilo Gudmalin said.
"Puwede ang 2 pamilya na nasa isang bubong na maka-avail ng ating social amelioration programs pero idaan ito sa assessment ng ating LGUs," Gudmalin said in a virtual press briefing.
(Two families under one roof can avail of our social amelioration programs but this will still be assessed by our LGUs.)
"Tingnan kung totoo na independent families ang nandyan sa isang household," he added.
(It will be checked if it's true that the families under one household are independent of each other.)
As of Wednesday night, Gudmalin said the DSWD has released P67.5 billion in funds to 1,223 LGUs for distribution to poor families.
The government has allotted a P200-billion budget to provide subsidies to 18 million poor families for 2 months as the COVID-19 pandemic persists.
