Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado has apologized after mistakenly referring to the disease that caused a global pandemic as "COVID-14".

The illness is coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.

In a Facebook live video by her husband, Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., for her birthday, Mercado adressed the gaffe.

Mercado said she is praying for a cure to be found for the illness.

"We all pray na sana mahanap na po talaga 'yong lunas ng COVID-19," Mercado said, while stressing the correct name of the disease.

Revilla, meanwhile, defended his wife.

Pero it’s okay,” he added.

The city mayor responded to her husband's sentiments saying “I’m okay, I’m happy. I'm not mad. Masaya po ako kahit bina-bash.”
