MANILA - Residents of Manila are now required to wear face masks in public to avoid further infections of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the capital, Mayor Isko Moreno announced on Wednesday.
In a live Facebook video, Moreno said he signed the city's Ordinance No. 8627, which mandates the use of face masks in all public places within Manila.
The mayor said residents can wear any kind of face mask as long as they use them in public.
He earlier said they will distribute around 600,000 face masks to families in the city.
The capital recorded 24 more cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing its total tally to 368.
