MANILA - Some 90 Filipino migrant workers were placed Tuesday on self-quarantine onboard a shipping vessel that is now being used as a quarantine facility, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

The Filipino seafarers from South Korea, Qatar, and Indonesia onboard the MV Pope John Paul II were in good condition and have no signs and symptoms of COVID-19, according to Coast Guard spokesman commodore Armand Balilo.

The vessel is owned by shipping firm 2GO and turned into a floating ward in coordination with the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard deployed 25 nurses and 75 security personnel to manage the 2 quarantine ships pledged by 2GO.
