MANILA - Two more police officers assigned in the capital region have tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of infected Metro Manila cops to 11, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said late Tuesday.
In a statement, Sinas identified the policemen only as PNP Patient 10 and Patient 11, who were assigned at police stations in Quezon City and Manila, respectively.
Patient 10, who is in stable condition, was recently confined at a facility in Quezon City while Patient 11 was found to have pneumonia, said Sinas.
“Our patients are given appropriate health assistance because at the end of the day, our personnel's health is our wealth,” he said.
Sinas has ordered all personnel who might have had direct contact with the patients to report to their respective district health services for evaluation.
“We are conducting contact tracing and we are also coordinating with the respective city epidemiology and surveillance unit for the conduct swabbing on our personnel with direct contact with our positive patients,” said Sinas.
Of the 11 Metro Manila cops who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), 4 have recovered, according to NCRPO Spokesperson Police Maj. Britz Estadilla.
On Tuesday, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police rose to 50, with an additional 21, spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said. — Report from Jaehwa Bernardo, ABS-CBN News
