MANILA - Pasig City is set to distribute food coupons for all public school students in the city during the coronavirus crisis, Mayor Vico Sotto said Sunday.
Each food coupon is worth P400, Sotto said in a Facebook Live video, without disclosing how many food coupons will be distributed in the city.
(We want to avoid stunting and malnutrition of our students. They are the future of our city, of our country, that's why we have a separate program for our public school students.)
(We don't want them to skip meals or eat unhealthy food... This is just to augment any budget so that families can buy milk, vegetables and other nutritious food for the children.)
Parents or guardians of public schools students in Pasig may claim the coupon in their respective barangay halls by showing the student's school ID.
Sotto has yet to give more details about the program.
Aside from food coupons for students, Pasig City also plans to provide cash aid for indigent families who will not receive financial assistance from the national government.
