ZAMBOANGA CITY - (UPDATED) At least 16 people, including two policemen, were injured after a police truck overshot a road in barangay Labuan in Zamboanga city Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Raymond Sanson, Police Station 10 chief, said the truck was heading to Zamboanga City from Sibuco town in Zamboanga del Norte when the accident happened.
Sanson said truck's brakes failed while was passing through a downhill portion of the road towards a blind curve in Barangay Labuan.
The driver of the police truck, who was a police officer, lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a bulldozer at the side of the road.
It also hit a small house.
According to Sanson, some of the injured passengers were relatives of a fallen police officer, P03 Zaide Tutuan, who was shot dead by a suspected drug pusher during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Bilang-Bilang island, Barangay Mercedes in Zamboanga city Monday.
The relatives attended the funeral of Tutuan in Sibuco town early Wednesday morning.
They were heading back home on board the police truck when the accident happened.
At least five ambulances responded to the area to transport injured passengers to hospitals.
