MANILA — A total of 2,229 policemen will be deployed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to secure the city ahead of the forthcoming Holy Week and summer vacations next week, Police Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr. said Thursday.
"As early as this week, we are on heightened alert and eventually in full alert status during Holy Week. Uniformed and plain clothes policemen will be deployed to strategic areas especially in places where many people converge such as bus and train terminals, churches and malls," Esquivel said in a statement.
Thousands are expected to troop to various transport terminals for their province-bound trips this Holy Week.
Aside from police personnel, around 3,213 force multipliers such as barangay tanods, security guards, and members of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will aid QCPD during the Holy Week.
"Handa po ang QCPD sa pagresponde sa mga nangangailangan. Hinihiling ko po ang kooperasyon ng publiko para sa mapayapang Holy Week at para ma-enjoy ang summer vacation," Esquivel saidd.
