A series of strong aftershocks struck off the southeastern Philippines after a magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit off Davao Oriental Monday night.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the main earthquake occurred 147 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental at a depth of 54 kilometers at around 6:38 p.m.
It was felt at only Intensity I in Alabel, Sarangani.
At least 9 other aftershocks hit, with the strongest measuring magnitude 5.1.
Phivolcs did not issue a tsunami warning and does not expect any damage from the series of earthquakes in the area.
