MANILA - The Philippines received 20 units of test kits, capable of 1,000 tests for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), from Brunei, the foreign ministry said Thursday.
The actual kits were sent a few days ago to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, but a ceremonial turnover of the donation was made Wednesday by Bruneian Ambassador to the Philippines Johariah Wahab to Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
The RITM, based in Muntinlupa City, is the Philippines' main reference laboratory for COVID-19 testing.
The country, as of Thursday, has logged 4,076 cases of the novel coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in Hubei province, China.
The tally includes 203 fatalities and 124 recoveries.
