DUMAGUETE CITY - A complaint over a guest throwing cans of paint from a lodge in this city led to a drug bust Monday.
Lodging house owner Agnes Flores said she called the police after noticing that one of her guests in Barangay Taclobo was throwing cans of paints from the rooftop.
Police then searched the room of the 21-year-old guest and found him in the middle of repacking suspected shabu.
Authorities also recovered sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from another guest in another room.
Eight minors with drug paraphernalia were likewise rescued from another room.
Dumaguete Police Chief Supt. Jonathan Pineda said those apprehended are usually visitors from other places who go to lodging houses to use drugs.
Police are now coordinating with hotel and lodging house owners in the city to come up with a plan to be more strict in screening guests.
They are also looking for the supplier of illegal drugs in the city.
The rescued minors will be turned over to the office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
