MANILA--Ospital ng Sampaloc has been temporarily closed upon orders made recently by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, as 5 workers there were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.
Moreno said hospital staff needed to recover after attending to COVID-19 patients, who could have transmitted the disease to the 5 frontliners who are now in isolation.
Thirty other hospital staff went on quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19 patients.
Moreno said the temporary closure of the Sampaloc district hospital will also give city officials the opportunity to disinfect the building.
Those who require medical consultation at Sampaloc can instead go to Ospital ng Maynila, Jose Abad Santos General Hospital and Ospital ng Tondo, Moreno said.
The capital city has logged more than 100 COVID-19 cases, health officials said. -- Report from Jeffrey Hernaez, ABS-CBN News
