MANILA - President Duterte said Thursday he will not make public Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) list of celebrities allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

“'Yung listahan ng mga adik, or drug users, or traffickers, or 'yung mga artista, hindi ko bitawan 'yan,” he said in his speech at the Annual Convention of the League of Prosecutors in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. “Alam mo bakit? Hindi naman sila seeking public office.”

Duterte’s statement comes few weeks after he publicly revealed the list of 43 local government officials and 3 congressmen who are supposedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

The President said he was obliged to reveal the names of suspected narco politicians as the public has the right to know the truth about the people that they are voting for office.

“I am morally, legally bound to tell people ‘ito yung mga kandidato ninyo, bahala kayo.’ If they still vote for you, fine, it’s a democracy. But the people ought to know and that is my solemn duty to inform the public and to know who the idiots there,” he said.
