Alleged 'ninja' cop reassigned to Basilan shot dead

ISABELA CITY, Basilan – An alleged rogue police officer was gunned down in Barangay Aguas here Wednesday morning.

Reports from the Isabela City Police Office identified the victim as Senior Insp. Aristoedes Nas Marinda, a native of Quiapo, Manila.

Marinda was jogging when unidentified assailants shot him with a caliber .45 gun. He died on the spot after sustaining a gunshot wound in the head. The case is under investigation. 

Marinda was one of 200 alleged "ninja" or rogue police officers tagged in various crimes who were sent to Basilan and other areas under the Police Regional Office 9 area of responsibility in March 2017. 

Marinda was serving as a deputy at Task Force Basilan's Police Community Relations office. 

Marinda’s relative who declined to be named told ABS-CBN News that the officer was a good person who helped many people.

The family is seeking justice for his death.
