MANILA - La Union province has recorded 12 cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after confirming two new infections on Friday.
According to health officials, the two new infections were a 66-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from San Fernando City.
They were likely infected through local transmission, health officials said.
Out of the 12 cases in La Union, 5 of them are confined at the hospital while 2 are in home quarantine.
Three of them already succumbed to COVID-19.
As of Friday, there are 3,018 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. The new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours are 385.
There are also 29 new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 136.
