MANILA - The Sandiganbayan 7th Division has granted the request of former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo to travel to Japan and Hongkong from April 21 to 27, 2018.

In its order dated March 26, the anti-graft court granted the motion to travel filed by Arroyo over the objection of the prosecution.

In his motion, Arroyo said that he will be in Tokyo, Japan from April 21 to 25 and in Hongkong from April 25 to 27 but did not say his reasons for the trip.

The court noted his travel bond from his previous travels will be utilized for his Japan and Hong Kong trip.

“That the travel bond posted by him in the amount of P90,000, shall continue to guarantee his faithful compliance with the terms and conditions imposed therein,” the court said in the decision signed by Associate Justices Maria Dolores Gomez-Estoesta, Zaldy Trespeses and Bayani Jacinto.

The court also set the usual conditions such as appearing before the court within 15 days after his arrival.

Arroyo is facing trial, along with former police chief Jesus Verzosa, for the allegedly irregular sale of second-hand choppers to the Philippine National Police in 2009.
