MANILA - The city of Imus in Cavite has received 20,000 face masks from its "sister city" in China, Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi said Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, Maliksi thanked Zhoushan City for its "timely donation."
"The message on the boxes reads 'Zhoushan Municipal People’s Government firmly stands with our sister city of Imus, the Philippines to meet all challenges together,'" the mayor said.
"Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga frontliners. Maraming salamat po."
(This is a great help to all of our frontliners. Thank you very much.)
The city has so far recorded 12 cases of COVID-19, including 3 deaths. The country in total has confirmed 88 deaths out of 2,084 cases, as of Tuesday.
The Chinese government has so far donated thousands of face masks and COVID-19 tests kits, which the health department said were at par with the standards of the World Health Organization.
