Koko Pimentel brought to hospital, source says 1

MANILA - Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has been brought to a hospital, a source close to the lawmaker said Tuesday night.

The senator was brought to an undisclosed hospital in Metro Manila because "he was not feeling good," the source added.

The source declined to disclose the name of the hospital and if Pimentel was admitted for confinement.

"But he’s feeling better now,” the source said.

Pimentel has been in isolation since March 24 after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Sought for comment, Pimentel told ABS-CBN News he's now feeling well.

"I am okay. Don’t worry about me. Thanks," the senator said.

Ron Munsayac, PDP-Laban’s national executive director and Pimentel’s chief political officer, said the senator was “quickly on his way to recovery."

“I’m very optimistic that he’ll beat the virus very soon. In fact, he’s been in communication with a lot of people already,” he said.

“if okay po, he’s requesting his right to privacy and his right to get well po,” Munsayac added.

Pimentel's wife Kathryna gave birth to their first daughter on Sunday in an undisclosed hospital after the Makati Medical Center publicly criticized the senator for visiting the hospital despite showing signs of the highly-contagious disease. - With reports from Sherrie Ann Torres and Katrina Domingo, ABS-CBN New
