MANILA - Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Sunday dismissed claims the Duterte administration is harassing Atty. Jude Sabio, the lawyer who lodged a case against President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court in 2017.

Sabio claimed he is “in self-imposed hiding" after a Trece Martires court ordered his arrest, supposedly for a deficiency in his Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.

He also said this is just a pretext to harassment, as well as a threat to his life perpetuated by the Duterte administration.

In a statement, Panelo said there is is no such thing as an arrest warrant for a a deficiency in the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.

"He is hallucinating and just wants to publicise himself. There is no such animal as a warrant of arrest for a deficiency in the a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education," he said.

Panelo also advised Sabio to check the warrant properly as it might be due to a criminal case filed against him.

Sabio filed a case against Duterte at the ICC in April 2017 for “crimes against humanity” over alleged extrajudicial killings in his administration’s war on drugs.

Sabio has been in hiding ever since he filed the complaint.
