A 4-year-old son of a policeman was stabbed dead by a neighbor suspected to be under the influence of drugs in Barangay Duljo Fatima in Cebu City on Thursday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Emmanuel Martinez Jr, son of PO1 Emmanuel Martinez Sr., who is presently assigned at the San Nicolas Police Station in Cebu City.

According to the victim’s 6-year old cousin, they were playing with two other friends near the market place of the barangay when balut vendor, Danilo Remulta, approached Emmanuel Jr. and stabbed him in the back with a knife.

The boy managed to run but fell upon reaching the front yard of their house. He was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

His father was able to capture the suspect and recovered the knife he used to stab his son.

PO1 Martinez said that the suspect was high on drugs when arrested.

He said his son dreamed of becoming policeman like him someday.

The suspect is now detained at the Mambaling Police Station.
