ILIGAN – A dolphin was found dead on the shore near Barangay Santiago in Iligan City on Thursday afternoon.
The dolphin had wounds on its flipper and head. However, it was not clear if these caused its death.
Authorities retrieved the body of the dolphin.
Another dolphin was also seen near the wharf of a flour-making plant in Barangay Kiwalan, about the same time the first dolphin was found.
The plant's security guards said the dolphin had been there since Thursday morning, and was too weak to swim deeper into the sea.
The maritime police and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources rushed to the site to rescue the dolphin.
