KABACAN, North Cotabato - Twenty-one drug suspects were arrested in Purok Krislam, Kabacan town in a joint operation by the police and soldiers Thursday.

At least 25 sachets of shabu amounting to about P900,000, two suspected stolen motorcycles, and P19,350 in cash were recovered during the raid in the community.

"Residents of Purok Krislam who were arrested were just re-packers, but big distributors are still on the loose," Kabacan Mayor Herlo Guzman said.

The suspects will be interrogated to extract information that can lead to the whereabouts and arrest of big-time drug pushers in the area, Guzman said.

Purok Krislam was initially cleared from illegal drugs but residents in the area have somehow re-engaged in the drug trade after the government's war on drugs was suspended, police said.

The suspects will be charged with violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and carnapping.
