Quezon City records 7 new COVID-19 cases; total rises to 104

The Quezon City government late Friday disclosed 7 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city, raising the total to 104. 

The new cases were recorded in barangays Bungad, E. Rodriguez, San Roque, Teachers Village East, Teachers Village West, New Era and Pasong Tamo.

The city government also recorded 3 new COVID-19 fatalities, bringing the total to 17, while the number of recoveries is 9.

The number of persons under investigation reached 55 while cases of persons under monitoring is at 280.

Sixteen barangays in the city have been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine.

In an effort to contain the virus, decontamination efforts are ongoing in different barangays, city officials said.

As of Friday, a total of 119 barangays were disinfected.

Officials have also distributed 730,000 food packs to poor families across the city.

Its market development and administration department also disinfected 4 markets in Galas, Kamuning, Roxas, and San Jose. 

Mayor Joy Belmonte earlier signed Executive Order No. 24, Series of 2020, ordering a liquor ban in Quezon City until the end of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the country under a state of public health emergency becauase of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The health department has tallied 803 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 54 fatalities and 31 recoveries.
