MANILA - Three personnel of the Department of Health (DOH) have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire said on Saturday.
As of March 28, the DOH has confirmed 1,075 positive COVID-19 cases, with 68 deaths and 35 recoveries.
"Ang tatlo po rito ay mula sa kagawaran, mga kasamahan na kasama namin araw-araw para malabanan ang COVID-19," Vergeire said in a press briefing.
The latest tally is the highest jump in daily cases, from 803 cases on Friday, which Vergeire attributed to the increase in subnational laboratories testing specimens of suspected cases.
Vergeire again reiterated the need to follow quarantine and physical distancing protocols to avoid the spread of the disease.
"Nakakalungkot po isipin, wala pong pinipili ang COVID-19 kaya dapat po ay mag-ingat," she said.
The health department confirmed last Thursday that a senior official contracted the disease. Earlier, on March 18, DOH said it had disinfected its offices after a director tested positive for the virus.
