For President Rodrigo Duterte's 72nd birthday on Tuesday, his top cop wishes him many more years to come so that he may continue leading the Philippines.
Police Director General Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa told ABS-CBN News reporter Vina Araneta at the sidelines of the consultative forum on the proposed creation of an Eastern Mindanao Peace and Development Council that the police organization is delighted at the commander-in-chief's birthday.
"From the Philippine National Police, lahat kami ay masaya sa iyong birthday. Sana you will be given another 100 years more ni Lord para makumpleto mo yung nation-building ng Pilipinas," he said.
Dela Rosa, a long-time Davao cop before ascending to the top post, said Duterte has been a "great inspiration" to the Filipino people, and he wishes that the chief executive will live long for them.
"Please keep on living, keep on working, and keep on making the Philippines safe dahil lahat ng Pilipino ay umaasa sa'yo," he said.
"You should survive. Dapat you will overcome all the challenges na nasa harapan mo ngayon. I know you will, you being a seasoned warrior. Kayang kaya mo 'yan, Sir," he added.
Duterte, who served as Davao City mayor for decades prior to the presidency, also received well wishes from the members of the city council as they sang "Happy Birthday" during the regular session.
