The sister-in-law of a councilor in Tayasan, Negros Oriental considered as a patient under investigation (PUI) was found positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) two days after her death Tuesday.
This was confirmed by the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Negros Oriental based on the result of a swab test, which they received Thursday.
The councilor of Tayasan, Negros Oriental also died due to COVID-19, the first case in the province.
The woman, together with her husband, brought the councilor to a hospital in Dumaguete City before he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Dr. Liland Estacion, assistant provincial officer of Negros Oriental, said the woman's husband who was also tagged as a PUI tested negative for COVID-19. He is still being treated in a hospital. -Report by Martian Muyco, ABS-CBN News
