MANILA - Expect fair weather in most parts of the country during Holy Week, the state weather bureau said Monday, despite a storm forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility.
PAGASA forecaster Ariel Roxas said the storm with international name "Jelawat" will only bring light rains to Eastern Visayas and the Caraga region when it enters the Philippines as "Caloy."
He said this is due to the trough or extension of the tropical storm, which is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility Monday night or Tuesday morning.
The state weather bureau said Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience cold weather in the morning during the Holy Week because of the northeast monsoon. Afternoons, however, will be hot.
The rest of the country will experience fair weather, PAGASA added. Those who will be visiting churches or going on vacation this week are advised to bring umbrellas and water.
